Recording high quality stereo sound to your DSLR or 3.5mm input video camera is easy with the Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro. The compact design and hotshoe mount, means that the mic can sit on top of your camera and out of the way of its field of vision. Recording in stereo with both a left and a right channel gives you a more immersive feel to your videos, and building an increased sense of atmosphere and directionality.
The microphone is based around a matched pair of X/Y ½” cardioid condenser capsules, which provide excellent quality audio with a high 12.6mV@94dB sensitivity and wide frequency range of 40Hz-20kHz. The unit features an anti-shock cradle, which suspends the capsules above the main frame on a set of elasticated suspension bands. This greatly helps reduce handling noise that would be introduced by moving the camera. Also supplied with the mic is a spare set of elastic suspension bands.
For recording in particularly loud environments, the sensitivity can be reduced by 10db to avoid peaking on your camera or audio recording device, alternatively, it also has a +20db gain boost, great for quieter environments. This gain boost is also ideal for use with DSLRs which tend to have poor quality pre-amps. By boosting the gain in the mic, you can lower the gain on the DSLR’s menu, and suffer less unwanted noise introduced by the camera. It also has a switchable 75Hz high pass filter to further reduce unwanted noise from low frequency sources such as traffic and air-con.
The Stereo VideoMic Pro uses just one 9v battery (sold separately), which typically provides more than 70 hours of continuous recording.
When registered with Rode, this mic comes with a 10 year warranty.
