The Aputure VS-1 FineHD is a versatile 7 inch high definition field monitor. The sleek, compact design and 1920 x 1200p resolution screen makes it the perfect companion on location to monitor full HD footage. With a contrast ratio of a whopping 1200:1, and a brightness nit of 450, the Aputure VS-1 FineHD will do your footage justice, and thanks to its IPS screen technology, this monitor renders colours accurately and from a viewing angle of up to 160°. It's packed full of useful features such as Safe Area, Zoom, Centre Mark, Checkfield and an extremely useful 'Underscan' mode. The Aputure VS-1 FineHD has HDMI, YPbPr and AV inputs and even a headphone monitor jack. To top it all off included in the package is a Sun Hood, Universal Hot-Shoe Mount, HDMI cables and a D-Tap power cable.
The Aputure VS-1 Fine-HD really packs a punch for its diminutive size. Measuring just 182mm x 138mm x 23mm it has a slim and very stylish profile, and also weighs just 360g, so it can easily be mounted directly to the top of a camera with the included universal hot-shoe mount.
Its 7" LED 1920 x 1200 HD screen will allow you to monitor the finest details of your full HD recording - very useful for when you want to accurately pull focus. Thanks to the IPS (In Plane Switching) Technology of the monitor's LED screen, the colour fidelity is excellent. IPS screens are also better for wide viewing angles, and this particular monitor has a viewing angle of 160°.
The 1200:1 contrast ratio ensures that blacks are rendered bright and punchy as opposed to grey and washed out. The 450 NIT screen brightness performs well in bright ambient conditions, but should you find yourself in glaringly bright conditions, a sun-hood is included.
The monitor has three inputs; HDMI, YPbPr and AV in order to accommodate high definition, analogue and standard definition signals from different devices. An 'HDMI to HDMI Mini' and and 'HDMI to HDMI Micro' cable are included for HD signal transfer from your camera to the VS-1 Monitor.
The 3.5mm headphone jack enables live stereo audio monitoring (with supported cameras). The monitor can also replay audio via its internal speakers for listening to content in group situations.
The buttons are set out in a simple and intuitive layout on the front of the monitor. The on screen display (OSD) is very clear and easy to navigate to gain access to useful features. You can even create custom shortcuts to your favourite or most commonly used features, which can then be accessed easily at the press of a button.
Features included with the VS-1 FineHD are as follows:
- Check Field - enables monitoring in monochrome, or only the blue, green, or red channel.
- Centre Mark - Indicates centre of screen for composition.
- Safe Area - Indicates crop area for a variety of aspect ratios including 2.35:1 (CineScope format) / 1.33:1 / 1.66:1 / 1.85:1 / 70% / 80% / 90% so shots can be composed perfectly to suit desired crop during post production.

The monitor has an integrated battery plate on the back which will accept power from Sony N-PS or NP-FM/QM series of batteries. No batteries are included with the VS-1 FineHD.
Equally, it also accepts power via its DC 7-18V input (also located on the back of the monitor). A D-Tap to DC cable is supplied with the monitor for linking with a professional broadcast battery / power bank (not included).
