This bi-colour 672 LED light allows you to mix and blend 5500k daylight with 3200k tungsten colour temperatures. It is extremely bright for its size and outputs 45w (approximately equivalent to 450w of traditional tungsten lighting). This translates to a rating of 1920 lux at 1m with a wide spreading 75° beam angle.
Unlike many other LED panels, this light has a CRI rating of 95, meaning the colour rendering seen by subjects illuminated by it is far higher than the norm, a particularly important factor when trying to achieve vibrant lifelike skin tones.
The kit is supplied with 2 x high output NP-F970 batteries. Due to the massive 6600mAh capacity of each battery, the light can be powered on 100% brightness for over 2 hours on a full charge. Alternatively the lights can be run from the mains adaptor. To eliminate the need for a separate battery charger, this light also has the special feature of charging the batteries mounted on-board whilst plugged into the mains.
The included remote control allows you to set the brightness of this and any other lights in Aputure’s wireless series. The controller operates on the 2.4ghz band, meaning no direct line of sight between the light and controller is required. You can independently control up to 12 lights simultaneously using the three selectable channels and 4 selectable groups. The controller allows you to switch lights off or on and also set the dimming level between 0 and 100%.
The LED screen on the rear of the light indicates the brightness level as a percentage, battery charge state on a scale of 0 to 4, colour temperature to the nearest 10k and also the wireless channel and group status. Buttons on the rear allow you to set the channel and group, whilst a dimming knob allows a brightness level to be set manually.
The light can be mounted via one of the ¼” female threads (located on 3 of the edges of the light), or can be mounted straight on to a light stand with the included spigot adaptor, which allows you to adjust the direction in which the light points.
The compact size of the unit makes it an excellent choice for traveling light when taking kit to location. It measures just 24 x 19 x 3cm and the panel its self weighs just 600g. Supplied with the light is a handy carry case which houses the light and all include accessories: Mains adaptor, Light stand mounting spigot, 2x batteries, diffusion filter and remote control.
