The AL-528c panel differs from the AL-528w in that it has a variable colour temperature. This is achieved with two sets of LEDs, 264 of which are daylight (5600k) and 264 of which are tungsten (3200k). When turning the colour temp knob on the back, the LEDs slowly crossfade and the illuminated screen on the rear will show the actual output colour temperature to the nearest 100 kelvin. This readout is great for repeating scenes with the same settings.

The light output is equivalent to around 300 watts of tungsten light, almost as high as many full size LED panels which cost far more and are much bigger and bulkier.

The beam angle is the same as the AL-528w, a wide 75° spread.

The unit measures 24cm x 19cm x 3cm, approximately the same size an iPad.

The light is supplied with a mains power cable, but because the LEDs only consume 30 watt of power, it can also be run on a set of 2 NP-F750 Batteries (sold separately).  When using the battery option, the light will last about 2 hours on a single charge.  As soon as the unit is plugged it, is also able to actually charge the batteries as well.

A great feature of this light is the dimming dial, which allows you to dim from 1% to 99% using energy efficient PWM, giving a digital readout on the rear of the screen.  This is great for repeating scenes with a known level of light.

The colour temperature of the light is 5500K (daylight).  The unit is also supplied with a soft diffusing filter as well as an orange filter to bring the colour temperature to a warmer 3200K (tungsten) if required.

There are ¼” female screw threads on the base and sides of the light for easy mounting to a tripod or magic arm in portrait or landscape orientation.  Also included is a light stand adaptor, which can be screwed into one of the ¼” threads and mounted on top of a standard light stand (sold separately).

Note: Camera and light stand pictured above not included. (However the adaptor shown at the top of the light stand is included).

The bag supplied with the panel holds all of the included accessories neatly and securely and is made from a water resistant material. The fully loaded bag with everything inside weighs around 2kg.
